  • Going Simple: Storage Organization and Decluttering

    November 21, 2022 /

Week Five of The Going Simple Challenge, we discuss storage organization and decluttering for the remaining spaces in your home, and how they can serve you best. Are the things we store in the remaining areas of our home necessary? Once we start decluttering and reassessing the storage organization in our home, we uncover what we truly wanted our home to feel like all along. Find Your Why before you start decluttering your storage spots! The first thing you need to do is define what you want from each space. The coming days are yours to reshape and rediscover your home. This week you get to use these decision muscles…

  • Going Simple: Toy Organization and Decluttering

    November 14, 2022 /

Week Four of The Going Simple Challenge, we declutter + toy organization. Plus a FREE Printable to get you started! Week four, TOYS! One of the most impactful weeks for a home with children. When we first decided to go simpler in our home, we were overrun with toys. Decluttering toys that had become unwanted and outgrown, and establishing functional toy organization are two great ways we will bring more peace (and joy!) into our home this week. Decluttering toys and improving toy organization benefits our kids most. Too many toys can be very overwhelming for a child. Does your child get easily overwhelmed in their toy space? Is tidying…

  • Upcycling Trash Into Simple, Functional Home Storage

    April 28, 2021 /

We live in a world where everything is linkable, buyable, shareable. But what if we spun the script. What if instead of shopping for our next need, we explored the option of upcycling? I know it goes against everything in our consumer driven world to encourage living with less. But today on the blog I wanted to share with you many of my upcycled pieces to provoke some creative thought. And in the process, hopefully, spark some light to live with a little less waste. Did you know you can Pin any of these photos to save them by giving them a simple TAP! How many things do you think…

  • Life Sucks Sometimes. Minimalism Is Not Always The Answer.

    December 2, 2020 /

Minimalism. POOF! The magic answer to solve all of life’s problems. Wouldn’t it just be so dandy if minimalism was the simple answer we’ve all been searching for? I’m so sorry to break it to you guys, and to bust all the positive vibes on the minimalist internet today, but I’d say I’m a decent way down this rabbit hole and I am living proof that life can still very much suck sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, having less clutter + chaos, and enjoying the perks of simplicity does help. One of my favorite quotes is from Gretchen Rubin’s book, Outer Order, Inner Calm. “Outer order contributes to inner calm.”…

    September 27, 2019 /

Starting Monday I’ll be leading a group of women to life with less. I. Am. So. Excited. To join the private Facebook Group + Going Simple Challenge, click here! But before, or even as we get started, we need to recognize how we got here in the first place. Part of simplifying is recognizing our mistakes so we don’t repeat them, and fill our homes and lives back up with all the STUFF we are trying to get rid of. Why I Went SIMPLE. My simplifying started because we were moving out of our first home. A home we lived in for over seven years. You can surprisingly accumulate a…

Laying in bed last night, I felt the strongest conviction. All these emotions came up. About where I started as a mom, and a wife. As a woman. And where I am now. So much work to do still. But I feel like I’m finally settling in to my jeans. You know? Like a really nice pair of jeans. Where they fit great, they’re breaking in in all the right places. And your confidence starts to get downright dangerous. If you’re an office fan, think Michael Scott in his jeans. Girl, that’s how I’m feeling about LIFE right now. And it’s not that I came here to toot my own…

Do you try before you buy?! The amount of money Do you try before you buy?!
The amount of money we save by shopping our home before heading out to buy something we ‘need’ … I wish I had kept a running total all these years! Received this cute little buddy as a gift, but had no small planters on hand. Welp… that’s nothing a little creative thinking, a quick shop your home moment, a few coffee mugs and some bristle blocks can’t fix! Just don’t tell my kids about the blocks part. 😂😂
What’s one think you’ve shopped your home for recently?

Today I bought a $5 shelf. The novelty of this imp Today I bought a $5 shelf. The novelty of this impulse buy was not lost on me. And I really started to deconstruct why such a simple, small purchase felt so meaningful to me?
It’s because every day we say no. We say no to $5-10 impulse purchases. We say no to buying the first thing that checks the box when a new project or idea itch strikes us.
In learning to say no, we have grown more confident in our ability to say YES when we come across a small purchase like today’s shelf. Because we know it is exactly what we need. We won’t have to hassle with returns and processed refunds. We won’t have to manage excess clutter from wrong choices and wasted funds.
And I get it, it may seem small, a $5 shelf for our daughter’s bedroom. But it’s so much more than that. Especially when little eyes are watching our spending habits. 👀 💕
What am I missing? Is there anything you’ve learned from reducing small daily impulse buys?
