Going Simple with Storage
How to tackle storage spaces in your home. This week, let’s really consider what we are keeping in the remaining areas of our home. Are the things we store actually necessary? Are they truly purposeful to our daily lives? Once we take a hard look at the rest of our spaces we realize a lot of it we don’t actually need after all. These spaces might even be large sources of frustration. This week is the time to face items that we maybe never needed in the first place! It might feel scary to face some daunting spaces of indecision. But I want you to think about how far you’ve…
Going Simple with Toys
Plus a FREE Printable to get you started! Week four, TOYS! One of the most impactful weeks in a home with children. When we first decided to go simpler in our home, we were overrun with toys. The first Christmas after Going Simple, we were gifted over 50 toys between extended family. I don’t know about you, but our home cannot hold 50 toys, let alone 50 new sets on top of the toys we already own. Since going simple, we’ve requested family give intentionally. We recommend gifts that fall into the following categories: edible treats, experiences, arts and craft supplies (perishable!), and toys with intention and purpose. Did you…
Upcycling Trash Into Simple, Functional Home Storage
We live in a world where everything is linkable, buyable, shareable. But what if we spun the script. What if instead of shopping for our next need, we explored the option of upcycling? I know it goes against everything in our consumer driven world to encourage living with less. But today on the blog I wanted to share with you many of my upcycled pieces to provoke some creative thought. And in the process, hopefully, spark some light to live with a little less waste. Did you know you can Pin any of these photos to save them by giving them a simple TAP! How many things do you think…
Life Sucks Sometimes. Minimalism Is Not Always The Answer.
Minimalism. POOF! The magic answer to solve all of life’s problems. Wouldn’t it just be so dandy if minimalism was the simple answer we’ve all been searching for? I’m so sorry to break it to you guys, and to bust all the positive vibes on the minimalist internet today, but I’d say I’m a decent way down this rabbit hole and I am living proof that life can still very much suck sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, having less clutter + chaos, and enjoying the perks of simplicity does help. One of my favorite quotes is from Gretchen Rubin’s book, Outer Order, Inner Calm. “Outer order contributes to inner calm.”…

GOING SIMPLE :: How did we get into this mess?
Starting Monday I’ll be leading a group of women to life with less. I. Am. So. Excited. To join the private Facebook Group + Going Simple Challenge, click here! But before, or even as we get started, we need to recognize how we got here in the first place. Part of simplifying is recognizing our mistakes so we don’t repeat them, and fill our homes and lives back up with all the STUFF we are trying to get rid of. Why I Went SIMPLE. My simplifying started because we were moving out of our first home. A home we lived in for over seven years. You can surprisingly accumulate a…
GOING SIMPLE :: Getting Started :: Building a Community
Laying in bed last night, I felt the strongest conviction. All these emotions came up. About where I started as a mom, and a wife. As a woman. And where I am now. So much work to do still. But I feel like I’m finally settling in to my jeans. You know? Like a really nice pair of jeans. Where they fit great, they’re breaking in in all the right places. And your confidence starts to get downright dangerous. If you’re an office fan, think Michael Scott in his jeans. Girl, that’s how I’m feeling about LIFE right now. And it’s not that I came here to toot my own…
