    August 7, 2019 /

It’s no joke that parenting today needs to come with a whole new handbook of rules, tips and tricks. Momming today is hard, with all the new gadgets, social dimensions and pressure to be the self sufficient, multi faceted, do it all mom. I’m five years in with three kids (plus one in the oven). And I’ve learned some sh*t. I’ve learned enough to know that I don’t know anything. So I did decide to scrounge up the few truths I have acquired to pass along to any other mom about to embark on this so called “journey toward motherhood.” Some of the links in the post are a part…

    April 11, 2019 /

Last night I fell asleep thinking about how very important to me it is to teach our girls to be humble. Above anything else, it’s really my number one quality to instill in them. I sat on it, thought about it, and prayed on it up until I fell asleep. And then this morning’s devotion was about, you guessed it, HUMILITY. Well that was about enough to send shivers down my spine. But for real talk, if I can teach my children one thing, to be humble in all they do, receive and give. Then I will consider this job done well. Any other humility seekers out there? 🙋🏻‍♀️ So…

Four years in to motherhood, and I now realize I’ve learned a thing or two. Besides the fact that I should never say never (I was taught that lesson real quick!), there are a few other unexpected mom skills I’ve picked up along the way. How many can you relate to? Fancy Footwork – I can now kick a toy down the hallway and make it into the appropriate door. On the first try. Every time. Herding – I’m a professional child herder. Whether it’s clicks with my tongue or joyous sing song phrases, I can herd and corral children like the best of the Wild West. Said skills may have…

And More Clean Plate Club I feel like it’s safe to assume you’re probably a member of the Chicken Nuggets Club (I’m an honorary member myself). And THAT’S OKAY. At the end of the day, you are feeding your kid, so you are doing your job! I know for our family, I just felt like I could do better as a parent, or at least, try a bit harder. So I tried a lot of things. A lot. We have come a LONG way with mealtimes, and I’m so excited to share with you what works. 1. Let them decide. Nope. That wasn’t a typo. All our kids want is…

Do you try before you buy?! The amount of money Do you try before you buy?!
The amount of money we save by shopping our home before heading out to buy something we ‘need’ … I wish I had kept a running total all these years! Received this cute little buddy as a gift, but had no small planters on hand. Welp… that’s nothing a little creative thinking, a quick shop your home moment, a few coffee mugs and some bristle blocks can’t fix! Just don’t tell my kids about the blocks part. 😂😂
What’s one think you’ve shopped your home for recently?

Today I bought a $5 shelf. The novelty of this imp Today I bought a $5 shelf. The novelty of this impulse buy was not lost on me. And I really started to deconstruct why such a simple, small purchase felt so meaningful to me?
It’s because every day we say no. We say no to $5-10 impulse purchases. We say no to buying the first thing that checks the box when a new project or idea itch strikes us.
In learning to say no, we have grown more confident in our ability to say YES when we come across a small purchase like today’s shelf. Because we know it is exactly what we need. We won’t have to hassle with returns and processed refunds. We won’t have to manage excess clutter from wrong choices and wasted funds.
And I get it, it may seem small, a $5 shelf for our daughter’s bedroom. But it’s so much more than that. Especially when little eyes are watching our spending habits. 👀 💕
What am I missing? Is there anything you’ve learned from reducing small daily impulse buys?
